About Us

Eco Thames Co-op aims to sustain the ‘nature’ within densely populated areas. We concentrate our activities mainly on protecting the richly diverse ecology that surrounds the Thames. The Thames, with all the rivers and canals that feed it and flow from it, is the life blood of London.

Our Projects

Pinchin Street Heritage Survey

This heritage survey is part of a commission undertaken by Eco Thames Co-operative on behalf of AND Association, Friends of the Goodman’s Fields (Pinchin Street) Railway Viaduct. The aim is to protect the historical viaduct, its surrounds and to maintain its listed status as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation.

Mayor’s Thames Festival

The Mayor’s Thames Festival, launched in 1997, has grown to become London’s largest free open-air arts festival… families, community groups, youth organisations, schools, local residents and businesses all participate in a weekend of fun along the riverside between Westminster and Tower Bridge. After discussions with the Mayor’s office, Thames Festival Trust + the Coin Street community, Eco Thames Co-op is aiming to extend the festival one mile eastwards each year.

Save Goodman's Fields Viaduct (Pinchin Street Arches) Campaign

The viaduct has been under attack for some years by the Environment Trust who are proposing to demolish the structure and replace it with massive towers! Eco Thames Co-op was commissioned by local residents, businesses, tenants, leaseholders, occupants to develop a proposal that saves the historic viaduct and protects this special natural environment. Why don't you become a ‘Friend’ of the ‘Goodman's Fields Viaduct (Pinchin Street)’ and maintain this important focal point and historical landmark. Let's all live and work in a greener and better environment.

Art, fish and battles

In Hastings the ‘largest (and oldest) beach launched fishing fleet’ is under threat of displacement through the Jerwood Foundation’s plans to build a sea front gallery that encroaches onto the local fishing fleet’s working beach area. The fishermen are up in arms. They have not been allocated an alternative place to moor their boats and carry on their trade. Resentment is building up against the arts.

Another Thames – The Mayors Thames Festival 2010

It reflects the Thames as [...]

Tower Hamlets Local Supplier Forum

The question is – “How do small local businesses find business?” or “How do small local businesses get a bite of the cherry cake?”

The buzz word is “procurement”…. In the shadow of the ‘global economic downturn’ and facing the ‘next big thing’ (the Olympic Games) 150 or more (small) business representatives came together in east London’s Mile End Park Ecology Pavilion. This event took place a ‘year on’ since the last time a similar meeting was held in the pavilion. But between then and now there has been a massive slump in world banking systems and leading global economies which has seriously impacted on local economies and to cap it all the forum was held on the Spring ‘budget day’….
